The proposed project will create the first skate park in Mongu, Western Zambia. This will be the first recreational facility for youths in Mongu.
While a thriving community, Mongu lacks recreational facilities for young people resulting in delinquency and among youths. This is a toxic environment in which young people fail to thrive and instead resort to societal vices like alcohol and drug abuse. Teenage pregnancies are also high.
By giving young people a recreational facility, the project will help move them from illicit activities and positively guide their energy.
In the long term we hope to see a reduction in negative behavior among young people. We hope to see them develop skating as a sport which will help improve skill and employability. Delinquency is expected to reduce delinquency. We hope the park will help raise happier and more fulfilled children that are able to contribute to society.
