Summary

Children's recovery doesn't begin when the ground stops shaking. It begins when the shaking inside settles-when they regain safety, routine, and the ability to learn. Following the earthquake in Venezuela, we will ensure continuity of specialized diagnostic, therapeutic, and psychoeducational services while strengthening teachers, caregivers, and schools through our specialized educational and psychosocial model.

Challenge

According to UNICEF, an estimated 1.8 million people, including 680,000 children, need humanitarian assistance following the earthquakes in Venezuela. Trauma, disrupted routines, damaged schools and interrupted learning threaten children's recovery, while humanitarian needs exceed current response capacity. Children with autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions face even greater risks, making specialized educational and psychosocial expertise essential to restore stability and learning.

Solution

We will maintain essential diagnostic, therapeutic and psychoeducational services while strengthening the capacity of teachers, caregivers, schools and community organizations to create safe, structured and trauma-responsive learning environments. Building on more than 20 years of specialized educational and psychosocial expertise, this dual approach supports recovery for all children while ensuring specialized support for those with autism.

Long-Term Impact

Recovery does not end when the emergency ends. This project will help children regain stability, continue learning and reduce developmental regression while strengthening the long-term capacity of teachers, caregivers, schools and community organizations. By combining specialized services with lasting local expertise, we will leave communities better prepared to support children through future crises.
