Warm greetings from No One Down Relief Organization (NODRO).

We are pleased to present our latest progress report for the project "Recovery & Reintegration for Prisoners in Ethiopia." This initiative is dedicated to supporting formerly incarcerated individuals as they transition back into society through rehabilitation, skills development, and community reintegration.

During this reporting period, the project has made meaningful progress in restoring hope, rebuilding lives, and reducing recidivism by equipping beneficiaries with the tools they need to become productive members of society.

Project Overview

The Recovery & Reintegration for Prisoners in Ethiopia project focuses on addressing the challenges faced by formerly incarcerated individuals, who often struggle with social stigma, unemployment, and lack of support systems.

The project aims to:

  • Support rehabilitation and personal transformation
  • Provide vocational training and employment opportunities
  • Deliver psychosocial counseling and mentorship
  • Facilitate successful reintegration into families and communities

Key Challenges Addressed

  • Social stigma and discrimination
  • Limited employment opportunities after release
  • Psychological and emotional trauma
  • Lack of reintegration support systems

Key Achievements (January – March 2026)

During this reporting period, the project achieved the following:

  • 90 formerly incarcerated individuals enrolled in rehabilitation programs
  • 65 beneficiaries completed vocational training (carpentry, metalwork, tailoring, and small business skills)
  • 40 individuals secured employment or started small businesses
  • Provided psychosocial counseling to 70 beneficiaries
  • Conducted community awareness sessions reaching over 900 individuals
  • Established 3 mentorship and peer support groups

Despite the progress, the project faced several challenges:

  • Persistent stigma against former prisoners
  • Limited job opportunities in local markets
  • Psychological barriers affecting reintegration
  • Resource constraints for scaling up the program

Response Measures

NODRO addressed these challenges by:

  • Strengthening counseling and mentorship services
  • Expanding partnerships with local businesses
  • Increasing awareness campaigns to reduce stigma
  • Providing follow-up support for employment and businesses

What’s Next? (April – June 2026)

In the upcoming phase, NODRO plans to:

  • Scale community awareness initiatives
