Reconstruction and Resilience in Valparaiso

By Angela Gaete | International Relations & Fundraising

The devastating wildfires in the Valparaíso Region have left many families without homes and essential services. The destruction of residential areas, infrastructure, and businesses has created an urgent need for intervention and support. This project is focused on providing immediate relief, rebuilding homes, and fostering long-term community resilience.

Efforts have already made a difference. In December, Desafío Levantemos Chile, with the support of generous donors, delivered 72 fully equipped permanent homes to families in Canal Beagle, Viña del Mar. Now, attention has turned to helping the residents of Canal Chacao, where many families still need permanent housing and support to rebuild their lives.

The road to recovery is not without challenges. Many families remain displaced, and infrastructure rebuilding efforts require continued financial and material support. Beyond immediate needs, this project seeks to strengthen disaster preparedness, support the local economy, and ensure children can return to school.

This initiative is about more than rebuilding homes, it’s about restoring stability and hope. Strengthening infrastructure, revitalizing local businesses, and improving disaster response mechanisms will help the community recover and prepare for the future. Every contribution makes a difference in ensuring that affected families can rebuild their lives with dignity and security.

The fires may be extinguished, but the emergency is not over. Support is still needed to help Canal Chacao recover. With continued commitment and solidarity, we can bring hope back to those who have lost everything.
