The Bridgeway Foundation is soliciting support to rebuild the Yaw Owusukrom School, where pupils are currently learning in unsafe and deteriorating classroom conditions. The existing structures are increasingly unfit for teaching and learning due to weaknesses such as damaged roofing, cracked walls, poor ventilation, and inadequate classroom furniture, all of which contribute to frequent disruption, especially during heavy rains, and place children and teachers at risk.
Yaw Owusukrom's public school classrooms are severely deteriorated, with cracked walls, leaking roofs, poor ventilation, and insufficient desks, making learning unsafe and frequently disrupted, especially during the rains. Children study in overcrowded, uncomfortable rooms and sometimes miss class when conditions worsen. Teachers struggle to deliver quality instruction. Rebuilding will benefit pupils, teachers, and families across Yaw Owusukrom.
Bridgeway Foundation will rebuild and rehabilitate unsafe classrooms at Yaw Owusukrom by strengthening structures (foundation, walls, roofing), improving ventilation, and installing secure doors and windows. We will plaster, floor, and paint to create clean, durable learning spaces and provide essential desks and furniture to reduce overcrowding. This will ensure safe and consistent teaching and learning year-round.
A rebuilt Yaw Owusukrom School will improve attendance, retention, and learning outcomes by providing safe, weather-proof classrooms where lessons can continue year-round. Better conditions will support teacher effectiveness, reduce health and safety risks, and strengthen community confidence in education. Over time, more children will complete basic education, gain foundational skills, and access better livelihoods, thereby breaking the cycle of poverty.
