Take Heart, a non-profit organization, will help rebuild lives and homes for 1200 Iraqi minority families in two cities who have been internally displaced due to the ISIS invasion. In Batnaya, the organization's support helps families stay and avoid emigration, while in Qaraqosh, it enables small projects and future initiatives aimed at psychological, cultural, and spiritual healing for war-affected families. Together, these efforts help restore hope and resilience for the next generation.
Exacerbated by the 2014 ISIS invasion, widespread persecution, poverty, discrimination, and loss of property disproportionately affect Iraq's minorities. Job scarcity and isolation persist, with few government positions available and limited resources. Security concerns further restrict mobility, hampering economic recovery and job access. Together, these challenges create significant barriers to rebuilding livelihoods and sustaining community development in post-war Iraq.
Take Heart provides support for all ages in all areas of spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical health. Regular in-home visits; men's, women's, and youth meetings; spiritual retreats; youth sports; and a children's choir provide additional support, engagement, and encouragement. Business training for skill development and income-generating projects help create new jobs, and targeted training for youth helps them find work. These efforts empower minorities to rebuild their lives.
Take Heart will never be a crutch or a hand-out. Our goal is to serve in a community for several years, offering training, equipping, and encouragement, leading to self-sustainability. Everything we do helps fosters a sense of community and belonging, so that helping internally displaced people can rebuild trust and resilience. Our efforts also create social stability, encouraging mutual support within the community, ultimately aiding in their journey towards recovery and integration.
