As I write this report about the work to repair a school damaged in last year's huge hurricane, another is slowly approaching Haiti. This time, it is even more powerful declared as the most powerful in the Atlantic in a decade, and will likely hit the north of Haiti hard. Please pray for the safety of those who are in the path of this storm.
There is good news from Haiti though. Thanks to a grant awarded by GlobalGiving, from funds donated by supporters like you, work to repair a hurricane damaged school in Mussote, southern Haiti, is progressing fast with the end in sight. Throughout the summer, local workmen have been clearing the site repairing and rebuilding walls in preparation for a new concrete roof.
The roof is about to be installed so once the finish to the walls is applied and painted, the school will be once again ready to accept its pupils. After nearly a year, this will be an amazing milestone and a positive step for the young people of Mussote.
The attached photos show the carpenters using traditional materials and methods to support the roof timbers as work continues in preparation for the concrete roof.
We expect to bring you news of the competed school repairs within the next 2 months. However, we don't just want to fund the building work, we want to provide furniture, books and supplies for the school as everything was lost in last year's hurricane. So if you can support this project, there's plenty more we can do to help.
Thanks you so much for your support.
