Over the last few months HHA has remained busy in response to the impact of Hurricane Matthew, completing a significant community cholera prevention programme which has provided urgenly needed support to a cholera treatment centre, helped vaccinate over 20,000 people with the cholera vaccine and provided mobile health clinics to thousands more, reaching some of the most marginalised victims of Haiti’s worst natural disaster since the 2010 earthquake.
We’ve also been spending a lot of time in discussion with the various partners involved in the school refurbishment project and after some careful planning and preparations now have everything in place to start the refurbishment.
With planning complete, we hope within the next 4-6 weeks all the building work will be complete, providing better education for hundreds of children in the coming years. Education is such an important part of post-disaster recovery and the help you’ve given will not only provide valuable assistance to those victims now, but also build a stronger Haiti for generations to come. Who knows what the students of this school will one day become.
