Project Report: Ramadan Relief & Awareness for Deaf Communities Across Pakistan
During the blessed month of Ramadan, the Deaf Welfare Awareness Foundation (DWAF) successfully carried out a large-scale relief and awareness campaign across multiple cities of Punjab and KPK, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock, Sahiwal, Multan, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Kasur, Okara, Muzaffargarh, and Peshawar.
Through this initiative, DWAF distributed Ramadan ration and food assistance to deaf women and deserving families, enabling them to observe the holy month with dignity, ease, and peace of mind. This effort was not limited to food support alone—it was a comprehensive initiative focused on empowerment, awareness, and inclusion.
Alongside ration distribution, DWAF conducted awareness sessions in each city, addressing key issues such as:
Harassment awareness and protection
Rights and personal safety
Importance of education and skill development
Hygiene and health practices
Promotion of sign language and inclusive communication
These sessions created a safe and supportive environment where deaf women could learn, share their experiences, and feel heard. Many participants spoke about the challenges they face, including limited job opportunities, lack of access to education, and social barriers. By actively listening, DWAF ensured that the initiative addressed both practical needs and emotional well-being.
Special highlights of the campaign included Iftar gatherings for deaf children in Lahore and Sahiwal, where children experienced joy, inclusion, and the true spirit of Ramadan. In Faisalabad, DWAF also distributed Eid gifts, bringing happiness and excitement as families prepared to celebrate with dignity.
Across all locations—from Kasur to Muzaffargarh and Toba Tek Singh to Peshawar—the initiative fostered a strong sense of community and belonging. Dedicated volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure that every family received support with respect and care. Collective prayers were held, creating powerful moments of unity, hope, and gratitude.
This campaign reflects DWAF’s continued commitment to uplifting the deaf community by combining relief efforts with education, awareness, and advocacy. Our goal is not only to meet immediate needs but also to create long-term impact by empowering individuals with knowledge, confidence, and opportunities.
Together, we are not just distributing ration—we are spreading dignity, awareness, and hope.
