Ramazan Iftar & Rashan for Deaf & PWDs Support

Over the past year, our team at the Deaf Welfare Awareness Foundation (DWAF) has stood beside some of the most vulnerable families across Pakistan — especially Deaf individuals and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) who often remain unseen during crises.

This project began with a simple goal: to ensure that Deaf and disabled families are not left behind during Ramazan. But in reality, our work quickly expanded far beyond the holy month, as we responded to emergency needs caused by devastating floods and widespread displacement.

During the floods in South Punjab — including Seetpur, Jalalpur, Alipur Chattah and surrounding villages — our team visited families who had lost their homes, food supplies, and stability. Among them was a Deaf mother of three who communicated through signs that they had not eaten for two days. Her family received immediate rashan, clean water, and emergency supplies, and our team has continued to support them as they rebuild their lives. Stories like hers reminded us that accessibility and inclusion are lifesaving elements during a disaster.

We extended our relief efforts to KPK as well — reaching communities in Swat, and Bonair. In these mountainous regions, Deaf families often live in isolation with very limited support. Our local volunteers traveled long distances to deliver food packages, winter items, and hygiene kits. Each visit strengthened our connection with these communities and helped build a network of trusted partners who alert us when new families need help.

This year’s Ramazan support once again enabled us to distribute Iftar and Rashan packs to Deaf and PWD households struggling to afford basic necessities. Families shared how meaningful it was to be remembered and included — especially those who cannot advocate for themselves due to communication barriers.

Through these combined efforts — Ramazan relief, emergency flood support, and year-round outreach — we have strengthened our ability to respond quickly and effectively. Most importantly, your generosity helped us build a wider network that now allows us to reach more remote and underserved Deaf communities across Pakistan.

As we prepare for Ramazan 2026, we are expanding our reach to additional districts in South Punjab and KPK. With your continued support, we aim to deliver food security, dignity, and hope to even more families who depend on us.

This Ramazan, Deaf Welfare Awareness Foundation (DWAF) extended heartfelt support to underserved Deaf families across various regions of Punjab and Sindh — including Kasur, Sahiwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Kamonke, Pakpattan, Okara, Multan, Sukkur, Mirpur, Hyderabad, and other areas where basic support rarely reaches.

In these overlooked communities, Deaf individuals and families often live in silence — unheard, unseen, and unsupported. DWAF stepped in with a mission of compassion and inclusion, ensuring these families were not left behind during the holy month.

We distributed Ramazan rashan packages filled with essential food items to help ease the burden of fasting. As Eid approached, we went a step further — distributing beautiful Eid gifts, including new clothes, jewellery, and watches — especially for women and children. These simple gestures brought visible joy and dignity to our Deaf beneficiaries, reminding them that their presence matters, and that they too are part of a larger, caring community.

Thanks to our generous donors and supporters, we were able to light up homes that are too often left in the shadows. Your support helps DWAF continue our mission of empowerment, visibility, and hope for Pakistan’s Deaf community.
