Economic empowerment to 100 refugee women

This report will bring the progress made in the last three months, May, June and July The last two months June and July were engulfed by a series of demonstrations and unrest mostly in
Nairobi.

This affected many people's lives including refugees, one business owned by a lady whom TUSA supported was torched down by fire caused by the protesters during demos she was left
counting losses. On July 8th TUSA organised a training for women. This training was aimed at imparting skills to women by using local resources to manufacture Jik using saIt and water only. 29 women attended this session, TUSA also encouraged them to form their own SHG (self-help group) so that they can access banking services easily and able to access loans to implement or sustain their projects.

TUSA has continued to support women through the self-help group, in July it held the
capacity building for the self-help group in Rongai. This capacity building aims to provide financial literacy to women and the community in general. It also provided loan capacity to one self-help group in Riruta this facility would help in expanding their businesses. The Mihango project was finally implemented, and a total of 700 chickens have been acquired for the project. As of the writing of this report, the chicks are one week old, after one month there will be a harvest.

In conclusion, a lot is needed in support of refugee women to attain sustainability through economic
empowerment. We are appealing to you to continue supporting us, we need your support to make sure
that the goal is achieved because when you empower a woman, you empower a whole nation.
