4 trainings "Psychosocial support for educators"
At the beginning of June, 4 study groups were trained as part of the Psychosocial Support for Educators project. Each group has its own unique number. Each group has 30 participants.
In total, with the support of GlobalGiving, 122 participants from different Ukrainian schools completed this training in the period June-July 2024.
This training program aims to increase the awareness of educators about mental health and develop skills of psychosocial support for children and adolescents and their parents/guardians in the field of mental health, particularly during times of war. The program is adapted to the needs of the education system and aims to develop teachers' skills in recognising mental health difficulties in children and their caregivers, establishing contact and support, and, if necessary, referring them for professional help. The training groups' participants also took part in a unique study of the psycho-emotional state of educators during the war. The study results will be published in international scientific journals, allowing us to speak more loudly about the problems of Ukrainian teachers during the war.

Spark Resilience
The Spark Resilience course was developed by British scientist Ilona Boniwell and was translated and adapted by psychology experts from Smart Osvita specifically for Ukrainian children. Its goal is to teach teenagers to manage their emotions and to be able to interpret automatic thoughts that arise during stress or anxiety. These thoughts are usually negative and cannot be ignored because they sound quite true. For example, "I will never master this language," "I will never feel like I belong here," "I can't share this with my parents because they won't understand," and so on.
This summer, we had piloted this course among a small number of children aged 10-13. The course consisted of an introductory meeting and 10 lessons, each lasting 45 minutes. The 3 classes will run from June 17th to July 20th and will be held twice weekly. nd another 5 groups of children underwent training from August 20 to September 25, 2024. All those who register for the training will receive an email with a detailed training schedule and other details.
So far, there have been 187 registered applicants. The registration form is filled out by parents who tell us about their teenagers' needs in managing and identifying their emotions. The project involved 136 students.
With respect and gratitude for your help and support of Ukrainians in our difficult struggle for survival and independence.
