There are many stimuli to which children are subjected on a daily basis, and which can lead to serious anxiety problems. It is not strictly linked to an age range, because reality dictates that any child's mental health can be affected.
Despite increased awareness, physical well-being is still given greater importance. An InfoCop report finds that around 30% of children and adolescents will meet the characteristics of an anxiety disorder, and that 80% of them will never receive help. A revealing fact that allows us to observe how the cases of depression and anxiety among adolescents and children have increased.
At SOS Children's Villages we work so that children can develop in a suitable environment. Our team of psychologists protects their self-esteem and reinforces the well-being of children by taking care of their mental health.
We know that 40% of mental disorders manifest themselves before the age of 14, but often go undetected and undiagnosed. They are especially harmful to children and adolescents in vulnerable families. That is why we want to make mental health a fundamental right, but the responsibility lies with society as a whole.
