Water is a perennial problem in Kenya. Providing safe water to orphans headed house holds is an urgent option to prevent diseases and the risks they face when on long distances in search of water.
Orphans headed house holds drink contaminated water in Ruiru district since securing safe water has been a great challenge. Water-borne diseases like Hepatitis A, diarrhea and dysentery continue to affect such families. Other adverse effects of limited access to water including limited ability to wash hands and body properly, resulting in increased infections in the intestinal tract skin and eyes. This project aim is to make water accessible to 800 orphans through rain water harvesting.
Buy 200 X 1,000 litres plastic tanks.
Buy 200 gutters.
Buy 1500 poles for electing the tanks
Buy 10 kg of nails.
Distribute rain harvesting equipments
Installation of the tanks.
10 days training for 800 orphans on treating water and washing hand
- Increased access to safe and clean drinking water
