DESCRIPTION OF A HOME WE BUILD FOR A WIDOW AND NEEDY FAMILY

A donation of $998 will build a house for a widow and needy family and make them smile again!!

The house that we build for a family, has 45 square meters (485 square feet). This house does accommodate a family of 7 to 10 people. It has 2 doors, 4 windows, a sitting room and 2 bedrooms. We stucco/plaster the house with cement, to protect the house from rainwater. Stucco is done on the external walls of the house. After we have helped a family build a home, the family who is the beneficiary of the house, is responsible to smooth /plaster the walls inside of the house with mud or cement; but for those who are not able to smooth or plaster the walls inside of their houses, our volunteers do provide assistance to a such families. They cook outside of the house in a small kitchen that they build themselves. We also help the beneficiary of the house build a toilet, outside of the house.

The children sleep together in one bedroom and sitting room and then the parents sleep in another bedroom. Most of the people we help build homes, they sleep on mats on which they sit on during a day time. When we are able, we do provide simple mattresses, blankets and sheets to the families that we help build homes. One simple mattress does cost between 25 and $30 and a pair of sheets and blankets costs $15.

AN UNFORGETTABLE GIFT THAT YOU CAN GIVE TO A WIDOW FAMILY

Providing shelters to widows, orphans and needy families will help reduce the expansion of AIDS and the mortality, occasioned by the present conditions of living of thousands of widows and needy families in Burundi.

Your donation would help and enable JRMD provide shelters to 100 widow families and orphans. So far, we have built 6 houses for 6 widow families of the 100 homes we plan to build in Buganda.  94  widow families and orphans, still need shelters, where they can live in security and peacefully.

As you know, Peace education is not possible for people who do not have where to live. There is NO way to promote peace, reconciliation, education, development, safety, health in and among the families who do not have shelter/home. A home is one of the most important things which contribute to the good living of a human being.

Helping a widow family to improve the condition of living by providing an affordable home, which costs $998; a home that accommodates a family of 7 to 10 people is unforgettable gift that you can give to a widow family in Burundi, during this Easter season.

Providing a home to a widow and needy family will help reduce the expansion of AIDS and the mortality of unprivileged children occasioned by the present conditions of their living. A home is one of the most important things that contribute to a good living of a human being. Until our project is fully funded, we will be sending you regular reports about our work.

You'll know what your donation has helped fund, what accomplishments we have achieved and what our current needs are. Donation can be made through the following link: http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/providing-shelters-to-100-widows-in-buganda/

Thank you for your Easter donation to a widow’s family that will enable JRMD Team to provide a shelter to a widow family and orphaned children.
