The project targets the highest acute malnutrition governorates (Sana'a, Al Hudaydah, Taiz and Aden) based on the Humanitarian Needs Overview in Yemen 2023 and the latest nutrition cluster reports. The project ensures the provision of therapeutic and preventive nutrition services by implanting a community-based management program for acute malnutrition among vulnerable people with a focus on children under 5 years of age and pregnant and lactating women.
The problem that this project aims to address is the high rate of acute malnutrition among vulnerable populations in Sana'a, Al Hudaydah, Taiz and Aden governorates. This is based on the Yemen Humanitarian Needs Overview 2024 and the latest Nutrition Cluster reports. The focus is on children under five years of age and pregnant and breastfeeding women who are particularly at risk. The project aims to provide therapeutic and preventive nutrition services to these vulnerable groups.
The project will reduction of excess morbidity and mortality caused by malnutrition amongst 7,.200 children U5 years of age and 3,240 pregnant and lactating women (plw). Allowing the vulnerable people to rise out of the malnutrition as well as improve their nutrition and health as well as well-being. This project works to address the malnutrition situation among children for more than 10,800 poor families and affected by the war. And protect children from the negative effects of malnutrition.
The potential long-term impact of this project is already significant. The project will work to reduce excess morbidity and mortality from malnutrition among 7,200 children under 5 years of age and 3,240 pregnant and breastfeeding women. Allowing vulnerable people to emerge from malnutrition as well as improving their nutrition, health and well-being, the project has the potential to make a significant and lasting impact on the lives of thousands of individuals, especially children and pregnant.
