Delivering Donors’ Trust: Rumah Zakat Supports Bore Well Construction in Sadean Hamlet, Sragen
Rumah Zakat has fulfilled the trust of its donors through a bore well construction program for residents of Sadean Hamlet, Jati Village, Sumberlawang District, Sragen. This initiative was introduced as a solution to the clean water shortage that the community has been facing since 2022. Previously, Jati Village had a government-supported PAMSIMAS program located in Brontok Hamlet.
The PAMSIMAS program was intended to serve the water needs of both Brontok and Sadean Hamlets. However, the distribution line to Sadean spans approximately 1.2 kilometers and passes through higher elevation areas, resulting in very low water pressure and limited supply for residents. As a result, the people of Sadean often have to wait until off-peak hours—sometimes staying up late at night between 10:00 PM and 1:00 AM—just to pump water and fill their storage tanks. This situation becomes even more challenging during urgent needs, such as preparing for funeral rites, due to the lack of sufficient water reserves.
In response to these conditions, Rumah Zakat initiated the construction of a bore well on January 27 to provide a more stable and accessible independent water source for the community.
“Alhamdulillah, we are truly grateful and thankful to the donors of Rumah Zakat. All this time, we had to stay up late just to get water. We hope that with this bore well, the community’s water needs can finally be met properly,” said Mr. Jaiz, a community leader in Sadean Hamlet.
Rumah Zakat hopes that this support will improve the community’s health, comfort, and overall quality of life, while also becoming a source of ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah) for the donors.
