By October the 13th 2023, at the height of the dry season in Indonesia, with your help, Rumah Zakat distributed water in 60 points across the archipelago. According to the Indonesia Bureau of Climatology, 77% of the country is experiencing the prolonged dry season in 2023. As a result, many communities in many locations are suffering drought.
Rumah Zakat aims to help these communities by providing clean water in each locales affected, supported by our generous donors and partners, including the GlobalGiving community. We provide trucks filled with clean water to be distributed in the community, and we also install water pumps which will provide clean water for them. We hope to help these communities live normally once more and help with their agriculture to provide food and income for agrarian societies affected by the drought.
One of the 60 locations of clean water distribution carried out by Rumah Zakat is the city of Makassar, in South Sulawesi. Rumah Zakat distributed 5000 litres of water in a neighborhood of Rappokalling district. The people of the neighborhood experienced water difficulties after the prolonged period of drought. We hope this assistance will help them tremendously.
We also thank you for your generosity and care for the people of Indonesia. We on behalf of the communities assisted, cannot thank you enough.
