Demise of Our Only Beneficiary

By Andrew Martin Niwagaba | Project Leader

Warm greetings to you all our dear donors, friends and well-wishers. It is with sadness that I inform you of the death of our only beneficiary for this project. She died in her sleep on the 18th November 2017 and was believed to be about 90 years. She fought a good fight and her she probably could have lived a little longer if she had adequate care.

I had the opportunity to visit her three months ago before I left the country for further studies on scholarship and hadn't spoken to her since then. I also had an opportunity to visit her in her home with the GlobalGiving site with Mikey. I regret not make contact with her since August BUT she was fine and in good spirits when I last saw her. I did not anticipate anything like this to happen so soon. She will be buried on the 21st November 2017.

I want to further inform you that the home was built on her land and part of the reason why she needed a permanent home at that advanced age was that of the dependant's burden that she has carried until her death. She has been a pillar of support for her orphaned grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she died rest assured that she had left them in a home and her wish will continue to be granted.

The organization is well represented at the funeral and ready to offer support where possible. We will continue supporting two of the grandchildren with education where possible and we will always make time to visit like we have been doing while she was still alive.

I have pulled down her pictures from the fundraising page out of respect and we will get more pictures of other beneficiaries as the project progresses

Other than that, the project is still worthwhile and yes we can make a difference with your help and support. There are so many homeless people and it is worse if they are women and children. Please continue to support the project.
