I am pleased to be in touch with our friends, donors and well wishers yet again. It is because of your support that we have managed to come through this far especially for the year 2012, a year that we had no idea of how it would be!
The project is designed to provide a new home for 3 identified elderly widowed grandmothers and their orphaned grand children. We have so far successfuly managed to put up one structure from a contribution from our Executive Director to replace the old structure on our GlobalGiving fundraising page. We are happy to have done that and given the elderly grand mother a new home, a new lease to her life, and a future home for her orpaned grand children.
On a sad note, the house project is on stand still because of lack of funds. We are still excited about the project though and will continue to strive to move it forward. There is no doubt this almost finished and habitable house is one of our biggest achievements so far and what makes it even more meanigful is the value we attach to helping the very helpless in our community. We continue to pray and hope that when funds do come in again, we will continue with the project as required.
Our remaining two targets to benefit from the project are still in need of the new home. The structures they live in have greatly outlived their life spans, the occupants are at a constant risk of the houses collapsing on them in case of a strong tremor. The old roofs are leaking and a lot can be done to improve their wellbeing such as providing the new homes. I sometimes get the feeling that some people regard these elderly grandmothers as old and in that case do not care about them but we at Ngoma Aid Foundation do care. We have witnessed the joy and satification our first beneficiary received in the one year she is in her new home and what a relief it was for her to get a new home. My pledge is that I will work on the video for the world to see when we have a small budget for that.
