Dear Supporters,
As the year draws to a close, we want to share some updates about our project. This year has been truly incredible, and we owe so much of that to your kind support. You are the reason these camps are possible, and we’re really grateful for your contributions.
This year, we hosted an amazing 11 camps in and around town. As we mentioned in our previous report, our focus this year was on promoting a healthier and more active lifestyle. In this update, we’d like to highlight some of the feedback we’ve received from the kids and their parents.
One of the most rewarding moments for me personally was seeing the enthusiasm of our older participants as they slowly approached the camp’s age limit. Many of them, realizing they might age out soon, asked if they could return as local volunteers to the camp. They shared how much the camps have meant to them—helping them make new friends, build confidence, and improve their English skills.
This summer, we had a girl named Mesi (who actually has been coming to our camps for 2 years) who joined the camp for two weeks as a participant and then returned for three weeks as a volunteer. It was so good having her in the camp, seeing her coming to the camps year after year and now her being part of our local volunteer team made me incredibly proud.
It’s always a joy to bump into our campers around town. With the holidays approaching, I’ve been seeing them more often in the shops. Just the other day, I ran into Kriszta, one of our younger participants. She was so excited to see me, gave me three big hugs, and said she can’t wait for summer so we can play together again! I also met Bernadette, a regular at our camps, who was already eager to know what crafts we’d be doing next summer. Her excitement was infectious.
Not long ago, I also caught up with Ákos’ mom. Ákos attended our camps for three consecutive years, and while he’s a bit older now, his mom often shares how much he loved his time with us. She’s mentioned repeatedly how the camps boosted his confidence in speaking English and left him with great memories & new friends as well.
Perhaps the biggest indication to the impact of these camps is the number of kids who return year after year with the same enthusiasm. At the end of each camp, they always reassure us that we’ll see them next summer—and they’ve kept their word. It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do. Hearing from parents about how much their children have grown and learned, and seeing the kids’ excitement, are the greatest rewards we could ask for.
We look forward to hosting many more camps, bringing more smiles to children’s faces, and sharing the joy of learning English. Here’s to another year filled with fun, growth, and unforgettable memories!
Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a wonderful New Year!
Warm regards,
Péter & the Care2Travel Team
