Dear friends,
Thank you for supporting Sphoorti's campaigns through GlobalGiving. Over the last 30 months, we have been able to raise more than $60,000 for various child-focussed projects. One of them has been the Shoes project.
Though only $600 has been generated through GlobalGiving campaign, we have been able to get a lot of people involved through direct in-kind donation of shoes and socks.
Last month, through local sources, we were able to generate support for more than 600 shoes. This time, we provided shoes to 200 young children from the local Primary School as well.
With your support, we have been able to bring in more initiatives in the school this year. In April, we conducted Annual day celebrations in the school for the first time in the school's history. It was a very well-received and recognized event by the local community and district education authorities. We have also installed Sanitary Napkin Vending machine with the help of some of our donor-partner organizations. Very soon, we will also be able to give school belts, ties and badges for children to complete their school uniform.
Dear friends,
Thank you very much for your support to the Shoes Campaign. This year too, we are planning to distribute 400 pairs of shoes to children of High School students of Gowdavally village.
As we have already discussed, wearing shoes not only protects feet of children, it also enhances their esteem and their zeal to go to school and study well.
Though we were not able to raise donations through this campaign in the recent times, our commitment to the welfare of our children remains intact. We however thank our patrons for supporting campaigns dealing with education of Sphoorti children. That is indeed a great help.
We take this opportunity to share with you, story of a boy V who comes from a tribal community of Adilabad district.
V comes from a very backward area of Adilabad called Utnur. He lost his mother when he was an infant. He came to Sphoorti in the year 2008 when he was in STD II. Now he is in STD X and is getting ready for Board Examinations.
When he finishes STD X, he would be among handful of children from his village qualified to go to College. Your support over the years have saved many children like V from abject poverty and ignorance. Now V wants to go back to village after his studies to save more children from his community.
Sphoorti salutes each of you for the great support. Because of your generosity, our journey has been possible and we are completing 11 years of service next Sunday.
Dear friends,
With the help of your donations, we have been able to provide shoes to more than 300 children in the last academic year in the Government High School, Gowdavally. The school's stature has increased in the eyes of the Provincial Education Department as well as the local community. The school has witnessed a lot of change in terms of the attendance of the children, their participation in classroom activities and discipline.
We take this opportunity to share with you a story of change.
If a child is robbed off basic needs like food, shelter and education in his / her childhood, adolescence becomes traumatic. To top it, if there are domestic disturbances, a child’s growth is stunted. Tharun’s parents are so poor that they had to stop studies of one of their elder children. This case study is about Th who was born into a very poor family.
Th’s (14) family hails from a Tribal Tanda from a district in Telangana. Being from tribal background, the family is very poor and most of the family members have never been to school ever. Tharun is the first generation school goer in his community. Th’s parents are causal labourers with measly salaries to support their wards. They have three children in all – two boys and one girl. The elder boy had to stop studies after STD X while the girl is in high school. Th is the youngest in the household.
Th is 14 years old and in STD X.
With the help of your support, there have been visible changes in the lives of students in the Government High School, Gowdavally.
Th’s relatives somehow helped him scrape through until STD X but further support was beyond their means It would be a tragedy if Tharun dropped out of school without completing STD X. He would miss out on so many career opportunities. Realizing this, his parents approached us for sponsorship of his studies in STD X.
Through your support, we are able to send him to school for this year. Th has been able to concentrate on his studies without the fear of his schooling getting a hit. He has been going to school regularly, scoring more than 7.5/10.0 GPA on his tests as well as participating in various co-curricular activities like Karate, Football. He also participated in his school’s Annual Day celebrations.. His parents are now relieved that Th can pursue higher studies.
Th wants to be an IPS officer when he grows up. Th is among the brightest children in the current STD X batch.
Support from our benefactors like you has saved a student’s career from getting destroyed before taking-off. Given the environment Th belongs to, it’s possible that he might have ended as a highly irresponsible child and a menace to society. We also thank GlobalGiving for giving us this Global Platform.
Over the last seven years, the collaboration of our donors, well-wishers and other stake-holders has helped us provide a safe and secure childhood with facilities children rightly deserve. Through your support, we can help more children like Th to participate in nation-building.
Dear friends,
Thank you very much for your support to our initiative to provide school shoes to all our children.
Through this initiative and additional efforts, we have been able to distribute school shoes to more than 300 children since August 2016.
Most children who received shoes belong to very poor families. They never wore any kind of slippers in their lives earlier. A pair of shoes are a necessity for a middle class family, but for the poor, it is a luxury.
It was the first time in the history of the local Government School that the school children are wearing complete uniform right from their clothes to their shoes. The environment there has become more lively and vibrant. The children became more confident and well-mannered.
To give you an example, let us take the example of a boy NAD who hails from a very poor family in the local hamlet.
He hardly wore slippers and shoes were the first footwear he ever wore. He is 12 years old. All his life, he roamed around barefoot.
NAD's father died of a road accident when NAD was 5 years old. His single mother found it very difficult to raise him and his 2 other siblings. She was working as a scavenger in a local school. As survival was an issue, she was not able to provide properly for the children. As the Government schools provide midday meal, she thought that the child would be fed at least once if he attends school. Such is the financial situation of NAD.
After the children in the school were given shoes by Sphoorti through efforts of friends like you, NAD began to take school and classes more seriously. His attitude changed a lot after he was provided uniforms and shoes. Going forward, we are planning to provide belt and tie to all the kids in the school.
NAD and his classmates now realize that they are as much an important part of society as any other child..

Your support to our camapign for providing shoes to Sphoorti. A simple act of giving a pair of shoes to a child who never wore footwear all his/her life makes a world of difference.
To give you an example, let us take the example of a boy A who hails from a very poor family in a village outside Hyderabad.
He never wore a pair of shoes until recently when he was gifted a pair of shoes by Sphoorti Foundation through your support.
A's mother passed away when he was very young. His father was illiterate and worked as an unskilled worker in a local construction firm. His innocence was manipulated by all his employers and he gave up on any progress in his life. In desperation, he sent A to one of his distant relatives. Through some of our volunteers, A was sent to Sphoorti last year.
Recently, he was gifted a pair of shoes. It has vastly improved his confidence. He now realizes that he is cared for and is an important part of society.
Sphoorti is your platform to change lives of more children like A through simple acts like donating a pair of clothes, a pair of shoes, a school bag or even a couple of notebooks. Help us build future for our world.
