It is estimated that about 10% of the Haitian population has a disability, added to this are people who have musculoskeletal injuries who need rehab services to achieve a better life quality. However, Rehabilitation is not a priority for the government. FONTEN is the only rehab center in South Haiti that aims to improve the quality of life of people through both therapeutic and educational programs that help to achieve the maximum possible level of functionality, independence and autonomy.
We treat children, adults and ederly people with different diagnoses, including CVA, Cerebral Palsy, clubfoot, amputations, SCI, orthopedic, musculoskeletal problems, among others. We offer integrated services that can improve patient autonomy and quality of life, such as occupational and physical therapy, prosthetics and orthotics, clubfoot treatment, assisted devices (wheelchairs, walkers), home visits, training for parents, advocacy in disability rights, as well as recreational activities,
FONTEN will serve 2000 people in need of physical rehabilitation services and health promotion, provide more than 10.000 attentions per year, will increase the mobility of more than 100 children and 100 adults through orthotic and prosthetic devices, and advocate for the rights of people with disabilities to the general population in order to foster a more accessible and inclusive community.
