This project shall identify the poorest slum and establish non formal school for providing non-formal education to children living in slums. The children along with their parents would be requested to attend the counselling sessions through which they would be motivated to make their children go and get education. The project aims at an overall development of children in the adopted slums majorly taking care of education, medical, sanitation of the environment, and enhancing nutrition level, etc
Meerut is one of the most important towns in the Western Uttar Pradesh and thus the race for urbanization has led to the development of over 100 slum areas scattered all over the district. It has been observed that most of the children in the age of 5-14 are involved either with child labour or with beggary. Education is not considered as important by their parents and children who have been admitted to school but due to some or the other reason have not been able to cope up with the studies.
This project has been designed basically to encourage the children to join formal education and in this direction a two hour class of informal education will be provided to make the education enjoyable to these children and they can be motivated to join the schools. A bamboo hut shall be constructed in the slum. Nutrition level of these children would be taken care by providing them rich meals every week. It will take care of the medical facilities and proper sanitation.
This project will establish an education centre to educate 100 children who are deprived of education. The drop outs will be motivated to enroll back into the main stream education. It will also help the children to attain good nutritional level, proper sanitation standards and necessary medical aid through proper awareness and camps. Parents would learn about the importance of education for their children through counseling support.
