While many of our microloan beneficiaries were halted in their businesses due to COVID-19, we are grateful many have used social distancing and other measure provided, they have invested a lot in their garden planting food. When things open up they will be the suppliers for the markets around. Although the pandemic presented many challenges to many women that we support, many have lost their businesses but have remained safe and resilient. Our best intervention has been to keep in touch, encourage and make sure we make seeds available, in no time they have started harvesting even during the lockdown they are sure of food security in their families.
We are thankful for local peer leaders who remained on the ground offering all support to members encouraging them and giving them accurate information that not only kept them organized but also safe up to now we have no reported case amongst our beneficiaries.
Rose together with her 5 members applied for $350 microloan to invest in agro-business before the lockdown a few months after she is harvesting, she is confident after lockdown she will be able to sell her harvest and this will help her to meet her expenses and educate her children.
" The Pandemic has affected our social interactions, and movements. it has affected our earnings and has caused short term food shortage but it has given me an opportunity to concentrate on my farm using the microloan that I received prior to the lockdown. I'm confident I will be able to repay my loans and support my family" Says Rose.
As a result of the pandemic, more than 400 women have been forced to close their small business. Women will need our support to re-open their business and attend to all shocks caused by the pandemic, they will have to adapt and learn so quickly to leave with the new normal. We shall be available to offer all possible support but we cannot do it without you.
Help us raise 20,000 to enable us to support women reopen and restock their business $50 can help a woman to re-stock her business and get back to her journey of escaping poverty.
Thank you may you consider sharing our appeal to your friends today!
