Challenge

In Karamoja, teenage pregnancy and dropout rates are alarming, with over 1,800 cases yearly despite Uganda's laws against defilement. Shockingly, 4 of 10 girls leave school each term, while boys disengage without skills, fueling poverty, food insecurity, and instability. The project supports 3,800 vulnerable youth and parents, equipping them with employable skills to break this cycle and build sustainable futures.

Solution

The Life Skills Project will solve Karamoja's challenges by providing 3,800 childmothers, fathers, and disarmed youth with marketready training through HELPCHILD KARAMOJA's centre. Participants gain employable skills for selfreliance, entrepreneurship, and psychosocial recovery, directly tackling teenage pregnancy, school dropouts, poverty, food insecurity, and idleness to build sustainable futures.

Long-Term Impact

The Life Skills Project tackles Karamoja's crisis by equipping 3,800 childmothers, fathers, and disarmed youth with marketready skills for decent work and sustainable income. Training strengthens rights, voice, and advocacy, while linking youth groups and the private sector. As households stabilize, parents provide needs, educate children, and break cycles of poverty, fostering resilience and healthier communities.
