The donors are requested to provide the internet to the disadvantaged youth in poor urban areas, especially in Uganda Youth Skills Training Organization catchment areas, because currently internet is expensively sold and this disrupts youth from accessing opportunities that internet avail to them. If the internet is provided to the disadvantaged youth, levels of networking, sharing ideas, culture exchange, development ideologies and methodologies will be accessed and increased by 50%.
The problem is that in our community over 80% youth cannot access internet due to its high costs. Some youth cannot afford to buy MBs for accessing some opportunities that boast both their social and economic needs. This results in a lack of jobs and no guarantee of a daily income for their homes and personal benefits. Currently the 1 internet MB costs $0.009 . This means that you can get 1 GB of internet at $9. This is something that cannot be managed by the youth.
The project will access full time internet to the disadvantaged youth communities that Uganda youth Skills Training Organization serves. The organization through its partners, has already attained computers that can meet the demand capacity for offering the internet services to the targeted youth groups.
The long-term effect of the project is that there will be increased levels of both social and economic opportunities among the target groups due to creating networking platforms through social media like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram to mention a few. High costs of internet will be addressed in a group of kindhearted people and the youths will no longer have the worry of being left behind on issues concerning technology use and not being behind the world.
