Dear Friends of WDF,
With immense gratitude, Wilmat Development Foundation (WDF) would like to whole-heartily applaud the indispensable technical and financial support provided by Individual sponsors, staff, support teams, groups, ministries, organizations and partners, in Building a Vibrant resilient and self-reliant communities throughout the years. Through your unwavering support, belief and faith indeed propelled our Vision of ‘Building Resilient and Self-Reliant Communities’ for sustainable Development at the grassroot. It is deeply satisfying to witness the impact of our model to Enrich, Empower and Educate thousands of Rural Women, Youth and Adolescent Girls, and Young Mothers for sustainable Livelihoods.
Despite the collective challenges facing humanity especially Covid-19 Pandemic that has crippled the global economy, from the consequences of exacerbated climate change and threats to women, youth and girls’ rights around the world, Wilmat Development Foundation has continued to work persistently to encourage our young mothers to dream and think big. It has not been an easy journey to remain positive and optimistic over the past years, but our team stayed committed to our mission and worked collectively to rise above the challenges that we encountered.
In recognition of the importance of solid teamwork, we held various community engagement dialogues, mapping of victims of teenage pregnancies, among others that indeed gave our team and partners time and space to reconnect, plan, and dream for the future together.During the year 2019-2020, we managed to reach out to over 1087 beneficiaries in additional 5,000 beneficiaries already impacted through our various livelihood, education and advocacy ventures where these were exposed to skills trainings, learning, mentorship and also others brought into our safer shelters that are being managed by partner organizations say Rescue Teenage Centre in Wakiso District, Living Hope Children’s Centre in Budaka District, Lords Mercy Children’s Home in Kamuli district, for rehabilitation and care of children and young mothers.
It was indeed a magical year to honor and further develop the leadership potentials of teenage mothers amidst the tough times of Covid-19 pandemic and uncalled for lockdowns. Just as the Wilmat Development Foundation continue to maintain unwavering optimism and perseverance in the midst of each new obstacles. WDF Uganda as an organization remains steadfast in its determination to continually improve the quality of our Programs and Project, and impact of our programs so that the dreams of all women, youth and children become possible. Our motivation is derived from the personal stories of our beneficiaries by challenging gender inequalities, building confidence, standing up for their rights, and Building back stronger for improved sustainable livelihoods.
While our program participants continue to raise expectations for themselves, we too look ahead expectantly to our future. What role can WDF Uganda play in our Beneficiaries’ Empowerment movement in Communities? How can we best tell our story and measure our impact? As a lean, grassroots organization, we will continue these conversations with our community and never stop learning and growing.
Thank you for walking this journey with the #ButterflyTeam to make our dreams a reality for the Wilmat Development Foundation!
With heartfelt gratitude,
