Another Successful case!

By Boom Mosby | Director

On November 28, 2024, the Nonthaburi Provincial Court delivered a significant verdict in a case that our team became involved with in early 2023. This case addressed serious crimes related to child exploitation. The accused, referred to as Mr. K (not his real name), faced multiple charges, including:

- Abducting a minor for improper purposes (8 counts).

- Possessing inappropriate materials involving a minor (4 counts).

- Exploitation of a child through human trafficking.

The court sentenced the offender to over 100 years in prison and ordered him to pay 1,200,000 baht in damages to the victim. This decisive ruling is a meaningful step toward justice, holding the offender accountable for his actions and demonstrating the court's commitment to protecting vulnerable children.

This case was the result of collaborative efforts between the TICAC Cyber Crimes Unit and the HUG Project. It began when an anonymous citizen reported the situation to the HUG Project via Twitter. Within three weeks, the offender was arrested on June 16th 2023. The victim, tragically, was only four years old.

Our team worked closely with government social workers and the police to ensure the child received protection, access to support services, and a justice process that was sensitive to her needs. Thanks to your support, justice for this little girl has been made possible.

We remain committed to working with the victim's family and social workers to ensure she receives the care and healing she needs for as long as necessary. Together, we are making a difference in protecting children and seeking justice.
