Creating a Brighter Future for Child Survivors

In 2026, the HUG Project, in partnership with government social services and multidisciplinary teams, intervened to assist four young boys rescued from a severe online sexual abuse and human trafficking ring. Through coordinated intervention, each child received immediate protection, safety assessments, and access to ongoing care.

Following comprehensive evaluations, two of the boys were able to safely return to their families, who were assessed as capable of providing a secure and supportive home environment. These families continue to receive regular follow-up and monitoring to support the children's physical and emotional recovery and to reduce the risk of future harm.

The remaining two boys, ages 9 and 12, could not safely return home because they had no parents or relatives able to provide long-term care. They were therefore placed in a protection center for victims of human trafficking, where they receive comprehensive care, including physical and mental health support, protection, and rehabilitation.

While the shelter provides a safe environment, attending a local school is an essential part of the children's recovery. Access to education allows them to learn alongside their peers, develop socially, and experience a sense of normalcy—an important step in rebuilding confidence and hope for the future.

Thanks to your generosity, the HUG Project has been able to provide educational scholarships covering essential school expenses, including uniforms, learning materials, transportation, school lunches, and other educational needs. These scholarships remove financial barriers that would otherwise prevent the children from accessing the education they deserve.

One of the most encouraging moments came recently when the boys presented the HUG team with handmade bracelets and thank-you cards. In their messages, they promised to work hard at school and expressed their appreciation for the care they have received. Although we cannot share their letters in order to protect their privacy, we are delighted to share photos of the bracelets they made. These simple gifts are a meaningful reminder of the lasting impact your support is making.

Our social workers continue to work closely with the shelter and multidisciplinary team to monitor each child's progress, support their adjustment to school, and identify any additional needs as they continue their healing journey.

Thank you for your support, which gives these children the opportunity to heal, grow, and look toward a brighter future!
