Roofing of Pinasol Training Centre

By SOLOMON ASIAMAH | FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

ROOFING
ROOFING

1. Summary of Progress

During this reporting period, Pinasol Foundation reached a significant milestone with the completion of the roofing of the Youth Training Centre. This stage represents a major transition from the structural phase to the interior development phase of the project. With the building now fully roofed, the structure is protected from weather conditions, ensuring that previous construction work is preserved and allowing internal works to begin without disruption. This progress brings the project closer to its goal of establishing a fully functional training facility for young people in Ghana.

2. Activities Completed

The primary focus during this period was the installation of the roofing system. This involved the procurement of roofing materials, including sheets and timber, followed by the construction of the roof framework and the fixing of roofing sheets across the structure. The process was carefully supervised by the project team to ensure quality and durability. Local artisans and technicians were engaged, contributing both skills and community ownership to the project. Fundraising efforts also continued alongside construction to sustain progress.

3. Outputs Achieved

The roofing phase has been successfully completed, and the building is now fully covered and protected. This achievement secures the structure against rain and environmental damage and marks the completion of a key construction milestone. The project has now progressed from the external structural stage into the next phase of development, positioning the training centre for interior works and eventual use.

4. Outcomes and Early Impact

The completion of the roofing has had immediate practical benefits. It has safeguarded the building from weather damage and created a conducive environment for continuing construction. Equally important, visible progress on the structure has strengthened confidence among community members, partners, and supporters. It demonstrates that contributions are translating into tangible impact, reinforcing trust and commitment to the project.

5. Challenges Encountered

The project faced some challenges during this phase, particularly due to rising costs of construction materials, which placed pressure on the available budget. Funding constraints also affected the pace of procurement and work at certain points. In addition, intermittent rainfall caused minor delays in installation. These challenges were managed through careful planning, phased procurement, and adjustments to work schedules to take advantage of favourable weather conditions.

6. Financial Overview

Funds received during this reporting period were primarily allocated to the procurement of roofing materials and labour for installation. Despite cost pressures, resources were managed prudently to ensure the successful completion of this phase.

7. Appeal to Donors

The completion of the roofing marks meaningful progress, but additional support is needed to bring the training centre into full operation. Continued contributions will help complete the interior works and equip the facility for practical training. Your support remains critical in turning this structure into a place of opportunity, where young people can gain skills, build livelihoods, and transform their futures.

8. Conclusion

This reporting period reflects steady and impactful progress, highlighted by the successful completion of the roofing stage. Despite challenges, the project continues to advance through the commitment of the Pinasol team and the generosity of supporters. With sustained support, the training centre will soon become a fully operational hub for youth empowerment and skills development in Ghana.
