In the past reporting period, Pinasol focused on building a new Resource and Skills Training Centre in Effiduase (Sekyere East District). By mid-2024 the structure was roughly 70% complete. Major construction milestones included completing almost all block walls (90% done) and the steel framework (100% done). Local community members – especially artisans who had benefited from earlier Pinasol programs – helped by subsidizing much of the labor cost. Key next steps (now underway) are roofing, wiring and fixtures. Concurrently, the team has begun preparing training schedules and outreach. For example, local meetings were held to finalize equipment and recruit the first batch of trainees.

Activities in this period included:

• Centre construction: Blockwork and framing largely finished (block ~90%, steel 100%). Remaining tasks include roofing and electrical/finishing.

• Community engagement: Local tradespeople and community leaders were involved (some labor costs were subsidized by artisans).

• Fundraising: In response to rising costs, Pinasol launched a local fundraising drive. The team set a goal of raising about €6,007 in cash and in-kind support to complete the centre.

Beneficiaries and Impact

The project will directly benefit 50 youth trainees from the local area. Based on Pinasol’s prior experience, a substantial share of these youth are expected to secure income after training. In a similar Pinasol program 100 young people were trained, of whom at least 20 found jobs or launched micro-enterprises within a year. Using those figures, we anticipate roughly 20% of our 50 trainees (about 10 youth) will find stable employment or start businesses. The ripple effect on families is also significant; even with 50 trainees, dozens of households are expected to benefit.

Participant Stories

Trainees have already shared positive testimonials about Pinasol’s programs. For instance, one teenager  (age 18, single mother) said: “I thank Pinasol Foundation and Impact Direct Foundation and Global Given  for paying for the training cost and providing me with sewing machines I promise to be serious with this training so I can take care of myself and my child.” Another participant,  echoed this gratitude: “Pinasol Foundation provided me with sewing machines and paid my training cost. Now I can learn dressmaking and fashion for my future.” These stories reflect how the training helps disadvantaged young women overcome hardships and gain confidence and self-reliance.
