This project will improve the health and living standards of 6000+ people within seven communities in Kumbo providing good and healthy water sources. The locals, SeReP in collaboration with RADA identified serious needs following the collapse of the lone water scheme, Kumbo Water Authority, due to crisis. This project serves entire villages, supports health centers, primary schools, secondary schools to fight against water-related diseases which come as a result of the absence of treated water.
Kumbo is now endangered by water-related diseases because of a lack of pipe born water. The target villages have over 6000 inhabitants, 3 Primary schools, two secondary schools, 2 health centers, and 3 churches. All these institutions beside the entire populations are really in a big problem of lack of portable drinking water. We have constructed three catchments that connected water to the quarters and now we need to finish two catchments and build eight storage tanks.
Construction of the Water Storage Tanks will be an asset for the communities as we solve the problem completely. Firstly, the Tanks will be used as a treatment point and secondly for control of proper distribution to the entire focus areas. The project shall significantly reduce water-related challenges because clean water is available at all times, especially during the dry season, for these communities and reduce the cost of living for an already suffering community.
This project will sustainably provide clean water and fight against all water-related diseases around Kumbo. It will also allow the villagers to train members of the community on water management skills. The committee members will also have the advantage of working as a team. Children and elders will no longer fight with animals to carry water from dirty and unprotected spring sources, especially during the dry seasons. The project will improve health and living standards
