As mentioned in our last report, we are continuing our efforts to provide clean water to the villages of the Nebaj Municipality. Our Project Team Professionals are working hard to complete the design of the water distribution system for the village of Visibakvitz.
The water distribution system includes a water pump, storage basin, piping, and in-home sinks. As with all of our projects, the village is contributing 10% of the cost of the project to demonstrate their desire for the system to be installed. Our NGO partner in Guatemala, Agua Para la Salud, will work with the village to establish a Water Board. EWB-JAX will contribute to training the Water Board for maintenance and establishing protocol for troubleshooting, repairs, and handling collections of unpaid water bills. The distribution system will begin construction in May/June.
