Bringing Clean Water to War-Displaced Families

By PASCAL | Cordinator

The ongoing humanitarian crisis in North Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo, has left thousands of displaced families struggling to meet their most basic needs. In Mugunga and the surrounding communities, access to safe drinking water remains a serious concern. Families without reliable water sources face increased risks of waterborne diseases, while women and children may have to travel long distances to collect water, exposing them to insecurity and potential abuse.

Through the Provide Clean Water for War Victims in Mugunga project, we aim to raise $35,000 to install a water well that will provide safe drinking water to more than 25,000 displaced people. So far, we have received $22 in donations. Although this is only the beginning, every contribution brings us one step closer to making clean water accessible to families who urgently need it.

The project is currently in its preparation and resource mobilization phase. We are identifying qualified trainers and prospective learners as part of the preparatory work, while continuing to seek the financial support needed to move forward with implementation. Once sufficient resources are secured, the project will focus on establishing a reliable water source that can help reduce waterborne diseases, improve hygiene, protect vulnerable community members, and restore dignity to families affected by conflict. The funds raised will support the activities necessary to implement the project, with spending guided by the approved budget and reported transparently.

We sincerely thank GlobalGiving for its partnership and for providing a platform through which our project can reach caring people around the world. We are equally grateful to every donor who has already contributed. Your support gives us hope that, together, we can reach our $35,000 goal and bring lasting change to thousands of displaced people. We invite individuals, foundations, and humanitarian partners to join us in this effort. Your donation, whatever its size, can help bring clean water, better health, greater safety, and renewed hope to families in Mugunga. Together, we can turn this commitment into a lasting source of life for the community.
