Provide Clean Water for War Victims in Mugunga

By AGIZO JOSUE | CORDINATOR

Estimated Budget: $35,000

Funds Raised So Far: $20
Planned Project Start: November 2025
Main Partner: GlobalGiving

Project Background

In the villages of Mugunga and Ngangi, located in North Kivu Province, access to clean water is not just a basic need — it is a humanitarian emergency. Over 25,000 people displaced by armed conflict live without access to safe drinking water, exposed daily to deadly waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and dysentery.

Even more alarming, women and children — who are usually responsible for fetching water — must walk long distances through dangerous areas. This puts them at serious risk of sexual violence, accidents, and constant insecurity.

Project Objectives

This project aims to:

  • Install a water well in Mugunga village.
  • Provide permanent access to clean and safe water for over 25,000 people.
  • Significantly reduce waterborne diseases.
  • Protect women and children from violence linked to water collection.
  • Improve hygiene, public health, and restore the dignity of affected communities.

Current Progress

As of now:

  • $20 has been raised through our partnership with GlobalGiving.
  • The identification of trainers and beneficiaries is currently underway.
  • The project is scheduled to start in November 2025.
  • Community meetings have been initiated to ensure the active involvement of local people in every phase of the project.

Expected Impact

Once completed, this project will:

  • Ensure 24/7 access to clean, safe drinking water.
  • End the exposure of women and children to violence while fetching water.
  • Greatly reduce the incidence of waterborne illnesses.
  • Restore dignity to families affected by war and displacement.
  • Create a sustainable foundation for improved health, hygiene, and community safety.

A Strong Partnership for Success

Thanks to our ongoing collaboration with GlobalGiving, we are confident that the full $35,000 goal will be reached. This partnership increases our global visibility, ensures transparency, and allows supporters from around the world to join our mission.
