Thousands of Nigerian women give birth in settings without sterile tools or clean surfaces, increasing risk of infection and maternal death. This project provides clean birth kits to reduce preventable infections during delivery. Through data collection at partner clinics, we'll track kit usage, birth outcomes, and maternal health to assess impact and improve safe birth practices across communities.
Many Nigerian women give birth in health centers without access to sterile tools, clean delivery environments, or electricity. This puts mothers and newborns at high risk of infection, complications, and even death, especially in rural or under-resourced areas where sanitation and emergency referrals are limited.
By equipping under-resourced clinics with clean birth kits, autoclaves, and reusable tools, we reduce the risk of sepsis and postpartum infection. These scalable, cost-effective interventions will increase safe delivery rates and improve maternal health outcomes in rural Nigeria.
Beyond reducing infection and maternal deaths, this project generates data to guide future interventions. We aim to build replicable infrastructure for clean births, power, sanitation, and sterilization, laying the foundation for systemic improvements across Nigeria's primary care system.
