Birthday celebrations at the centre are not just about marking another year. They are about helping children, especially orphans living with chronic illness, to celebrate their lives and feel loved and that they truly belong.
Yesterday’s celebration beautifully reflected this purpose.
A 29 year old young man who first came to the centre as an 8th standard student returned, now married and a father. Standing alongside a 14 year old orphan girl being raised by her grandmother, he became a powerful symbol of hope and continuity. His journey inspired the younger children and reassured caregivers that their efforts create lasting impact. His gesture of sponsoring sweets for everyone added warmth and joy to the occasion.
For the young girl, the celebration became a moment of reflection. She shared how her grandmother has been her strength and support since she lost her mother when she was in 1st standard. Her gratitude highlighted the quiet yet powerful role of family in shaping resilience and hope.
This year also marks the beginning of a new initiative, the Gratitude Card. Along with the celebration, children are encouraged to reflect on their personal growth and express thanks to those who have supported them. This simple and meaningful exercise creates space for self awareness, appreciation and emotional connection. In many ways, it is the children themselves who guide us to improve our work. The Gratitude Card initiative has emerged from listening to them.
We remain deeply grateful to our supporters who makes these moments possible, ensuring that every child feels valued, loved and never alone.
