Emergency Food Box Program for DV Victims

By Catherine Sealys | President & Lead Women Support

At Raise Your Voice Saint Lucia Inc, we remain deeply committed to alleviating the immediate hardships faced by survivors of gender-based violence and other marginalized groups across our community. Our Emergency Food Box Program was designed to provide a lifeline of essential nourishment to those navigating the aftermath of trauma, economic instability, or single parenthood—with a special focus on women with children, the elderly, and families with special needs members. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we continue working toward our $40,000 goal to serve food to our clients and other specifically selected food insecure households, knowing that for many, a simple bag of food can mean the difference between despair and hope.

During this reporting period January to June 2026, we are proud to share that we have successfully distributed food bags to 126 households, reaching a total of 412 individuals in need. Among those served were elderly community members and families caring for persons with special needs—groups that are disproportionately vulnerable and often face additional barriers to accessing support. Each food bag is carefully assembled to provide balanced, nutritious staples that offer relief and stability, allowing families to redirect their limited resources toward other pressing needs such as rent, utilities, or medical expenses.

While this achievement marks significant progress, the demand for assistance continues to grow, and we remain determined to reach our goal of 320 households for the year. Every distribution not only fills empty cupboards but also reinforces our broader mission; to minimize instances of domestic violence and prevent survivors from being forced to return to harmful situations out of desperation for food and shelter. We are deeply grateful to our donors and partners who make this work possible, and we invite continued support as we strive to extend our reach and ensure no one in our community goes hungry.
