Third Project Report

By Etienne Ayuk Ayuk Ndip | Founder and President

PERIOD: 1st August, 2018- 31st, October 2018.

  1. Introduction

Foundation for Community Development Association (FCDA) is a non-profit organization which attained legal status in 2017 with headquarters in Limbe, Cameroon. FCDA has an operational office in Mile 3, Nkwen, Bamenda, the North West region of the country.

Amid the ongoing Anglophone crisis in the country, business activities have been very disturbing with little or no activities on weeks where the uprising aggravated.

Reaching out to clients, championing meetings, and access information has been a stressful task given that there is no internet connection.

This reports spans for a quarter ( 3 months).

  1. Achievements
  • We diverted our activities to the south west region of the country precisely Ekondo Titi, a rural area where farming is the main economic activity. With our partnership with Agro Palms Ltd, we have rehabilitated a palm oil factory. Our capacity has increased from 200 tons to 250 tons of fresh fruit bunches because we are able to assist small holders to transform their produces.
  • We also conducted after school training programs for kids to learn digital skills especially rural children in Ekondo Titi whose parents are farmers. We have registered 15 kids for the program.
  • Our Agriculture web and mobile app also received a lot of attention as we are in the testing period. At the moment, we have 10 articles traded in our website.
  • Analysis was made with respect to our digital strategic goals of the organization and adjustments made as the initial goals were not realistic.
  1. Problems
  • No fund was raised through our GlobalGiving Platform.
  • Political instability in the country stalling major actions.
  • Need for technical assistance such as professional developers services
  • Inadequate revenue sources
  • Inadequate ICT tools and farming equipment.
  1. Upcoming Activities
  • Setting up of an operation office in Buea before the close of second quarter 2019.
  • Register to the techsoup Cameroon program and organize events. With first event to take place25/05/2019.
  1. Potentiality
  • Partnerships with other organizations enabling advancement in work
  • We have received more than 40 applications from volunteers and recruited 2 permanent workers
  1. Conclusion

We appreciate the work of GlobalGiving team as they are very responsive to our project. We are benefiting from training resources, and recognition from many communities. We are pleading that GG puts in much effort for us to raise funds through the crowdfunding platform. Looking forward to keeping you updated with our project reports.

Also, we are reiterating that there is a lot of hurdles amid political turmoil in the country. We plead that GlobalGiving should consider our late submission of reports and we shall try as much as possible to be on time.
