Project Report | Oct 5, 2026
Program status: in preparation

By Art Program | Project Leader

Dear friends and supporters,

Thank you for believing in the idea that every child, teenager and adult deserves the chance to create, whatever their family can afford. Halt Poverty is a nonprofit that supports training programs that build resilience, create jobs and help families move out of poverty. Through this project we want to add art education to that work. We are grateful to everyone who has supported us so far, and we want to update you on where the project stands and how your gifts will be used.

Why this project matters

Paid art programs are out of reach for many families we work with. Arts programs give people a safe way to express emotions, help build cognitive and motor skills, and can open the way to economic independence. They also support academic engagement, reduce risky behaviors, and give participants a voice and a sense of self-worth. We want to offer this to those who cannot afford it.

Where the project stands

  • Funding goal: $5,000
  • Raised so far: $21, from one donor
  • Program status: in preparation

Every gift, however small, moves the program closer to launch. We are working to reach more supporters so that the classes can begin.

What the program will offer

  • Free art classes for participants aged 5 and over
  • Workshops led by professional artists and educators
  • Supplies and materials for painting, drawing, digital art and mixed media
  • Exhibitions and showcases to celebrate participants' work
  • Sessions per week, so that participants have steady, structured practice in a supportive environment

Our goals for the first year

  1. Give at least 100 participants access to art education
  2. Build creativity, critical thinking and confidence through structured instruction
  3. Introduce participants to career paths in design, illustration and digital arts
  4. Create community engagement through student exhibitions

How your donation will be used

Budget line

  • Art supplies, software and instructional materials: $2,000
  • Compensation for professional teaching artists and consultants: $1,500
  • Venue costs and program operations: $1,000
  • Community showcase and outreach: $500
  • Total: $5,000

The GlobalGiving giving options match these lines. For example, $21 goes toward venue and operations, $52 toward teaching artists, and $120 toward supplies and materials.

Activities completed to date

  • Planning and preparation, venue identified, artists contacted, curriculum outline
  • Community outreach

How we will measure progress

  • Tracking participation and skill development
  • Pre- and post-program surveys for participants
  • Quarterly meetings to update stakeholders and donors
  • An annual impact report covering program milestones

How you can help

You can support the program with a gift on our GlobalGiving page, share the project with friends, family or colleagues, or start a fundraiser for it. Each contribution brings us closer to opening the classroom doors.

With sincere thanks,
Halt Poverty Team
