Nadia was happy at last to have clean water at home for her family's health. Similarly, beneficiaries in small village in Minya Upper Egypt poorest rural areas need clean safe drinking water connections from UPVC sustainable for 60 yrs.MEK spreads health awareness regarding renal failure, and hygiene .Women & girls can spend less time and less physical effort collecting daily needs of water from contaminated canals;contract less water-related illnesses; and be more economically productive.
There are currently whole poorest villages in Minya governorate of Upper Egypt which are deprived of healthy clean water network connections.They still rely on transporting water from central cities, which are at least 50-100 Km away.The government sends water tanks to closer locations where mostly women and girls bear this tedious tiring chore of having to walk long distances at least 3-5 km to carry water in Jerricans. This water is also not totally free, sold at 1$ per cubic meter.
The project targets provision of 7000 Km of water networks from a water purification station till clean drinking water taps at home. Misr Elkheir Foundation has collaborated with the Holding Company for Water and Water Waste-Egypt for implementation of such projects in several poorest villages to ensure accessibility of vulnerable disadvantaged people to clean safe drinking water.The water intervention is 1000 shares, each share costs 100$ each. The project aims to connect 11,000 households in the disadvantaged village of in Minya Governorate to clean safe drinking water; improve the health of the general population and especially children; and increase their productivity. The long term effects are endless and foremost contracting less water-bourne diseases which primarily is the number one cause in kidney-related infections and ultimately would lead to kidney failure; and also liver problems.
