"A hundred years from now it will not matter what your bank account was, the sort of house you lived in, or the kind of clothes you wore, but the world may be much different because you were important in the life of a child. - Author Unknown.
The residents of Abatex, a small Filipino village struggling to survive on an abandoned dump site, have been in quarantine for almost two years. Your donations have provided much needed food for the children there and are greatly appreciated.
In the main photo, you see one of our Abatex children who is severely disabled. He cannot speak or walk. His loving mother carries him everywhere which is VERY difficult living on a Dumpsite. Your support makes his (and his mother’s ) life so much more bearable.
Salamat (thank you in tagalog) is a small expression of our sincere appreciation for your continuing support. Every gift - no matter how much - is urgently needed and life-sustaining.
We are happy to report that we used the donations from GlobalGiving to buy NINE Calamasi trees as part of a community garden for families living near the Abatex dumpsite.
Of course, the trees take time to grow but the first plants are showing some fruit!
Little Keana, 7 years old, helps take care of the plants while her parents are at work, even though she also takes care of her three brothers and sisters! The delicious fruit makes a wonderful drink and her parents can sell them in the market.
We have not promoted this project enough but are planning to get more people involved in helping the families at the Abatex dumpsite with this amazing project that helps the children and provides livelihood.
Thanks so much for promoting this project and helping to support it!
