The community of Carapita, Capital District, Venezuela, faces a humanitarian crisis where families can only afford to eat twice a day, relying almost exclusively on carbohydrates (rice/pasta). This project aims to raise funds to acquire and distribute high-nutritional-value food baskets, focusing on proteins and micronutrients, to 100 vulnerable families, significantly improving their health and the children's quality of life.
Carapita is a highly vulnerable community in the Capital District of Venezuela. The severe economic and social crisis has left most families in a state of food emergency. Job scarcity and minimum wages make it impossible to purchase essential food items. Families report eating only twice a day, and their diet consists almost entirely of cheap carbohydrates (rice, pasta).
Our main goal is to guarantee access to a constant source of protein and micronutrients for the most vulnerable families in Carapita for 12 months. Our strategy is the implementation of a Nutritional Food Basket (NFB) Delivery Program. Each basket will be designed by a nutritionist to include essential Proteins: Legumes (beans/lentils), canned tuna, eggs, and/or frozen meat/chicken.
Immediate Health: Decrease in the rates of acute and chronic malnutrition in children. Strengthening of the entire family's immune system. Child Development: Protein intake is vital for children's brain and physical development, allowing for better school performance. Dignity and Stability: By alleviating the pressure of buying food, families can allocate their meager resources to other basic needs (medicine, education, etc.), fostering greater family stability.
