Dear Supporters
Following on from our last report, three high-tech cellular camera traps were purchased to assist our
reserve management team who follow up on potential poaching threats to the reserve. The traps have
since arrived and are already well being well utilized by the team.
GVI Karongwe chose the renowned “Spartan HD GoCam” for this project, as the trusted brand delivers
an innovative wireless option that sends real-time images to your mobile phone or desktop. They can
detect the difference in movement between objects of different sizes, and you can choose what is
immediately sent through to your device – a very important attribute on a reserve protecting our
endangered wildlife!
These well camouflaged cameras have been specifically placed in “hot-spots” known to our Anti-
Poaching Unit, and are randomly rotated between these areas to not alert any unwanted visitors to
their presence.
The team couldn’t be happier with this latest addition to their field resources, as this also keeps our
Anti-Poaching team prepared and therefore safer from any potentially dangerous situations.
Boom Gates
Some amazing news from the renovations to our once dilapidated Boom Gate 1 – construction is now
complete! Since our last report the building team were busy plastering walls, positioning windows,
and installing water tanks for the ablution facilities. All that is left now is a good lick of paint from our
volunteers and this building will be transformed to a well-equipped foundation for reserve protection.
Stay tuned to get the latest on the second construction efforts of Boom Gate 2!
Our continuous efforts to fund the evolving war against poaching would be unsustainable without the
direct support of our donors. Through The GVI Trust we can keep one step ahead of those who would otherwise seek to damage the delicate balance of wildlife conservation; and for that we are forever
Truly grateful
With Love
The Karongwe team
