Thanks to your support, we could have another year with zero traffic accidents! (As of Oct 10, 2024)
The largest threat to the cats living on the small Island of Iriomote in Okinawa is getting hit by cars. The cats are active at night and when is is getting dark, so drivers have a hard time avoiding the wildlife that run out into the dimly lit roads. Our activities are striving to reduce the threat from cars by raising awareness on the island so drivers know what areas the cats have been seen.
Our report attached below is a summary of our various activities that were conducted in the past year. The English Language (Google Transalation) is page 1 of the report with colorful photos and text. Pages 2-5 of the report are the corrected Google text and photo captions of each activity. Page 6 is the original Japanese language version of the report.
Amidst rising prices for gasoline, which we use for the night time patrols, as well as the increasing cost of living, and raising kids on the island, making a living on this small island is difficult! The staff and volunteers must ferry in all the food, supplies and special services needed throughout the year. Thanks to our supporters from around the world, we could continue our activities in the face of inflation! Please enjoy reading our updated report for 2024.
We have many exciting upcoming activities and actions for supporters in 2025! Keep an eye on your project here!
