In San Felipe and La Esperanza, remote Salta communities, families live without access to clean water, electricity, or basic infrastructure. For six months each year, floods isolate them completely. During the dry season, they rely on contaminated sources like ponds or hand-dug holes, risking illness, especially in children. This project will build rainwater cisterns to store safe water year-round, improving health, reducing disease, and giving families time, dignity, and hope.
In remote Salta communities, families endure six months of complete isolation each year. With no infrastructure or government support, they are forced to drink water from contaminated ponds or holes. As a result, children and elders frequently suffer from waterborne diseases like diarrhea, parasites, and dehydration. Access to clean water is nearly impossible, and this puts lives at risk every single day.
This project will build rainwater cisterns in remote Salta communities, providing families with safe water during the dry season, when no clean source is available and they are completely isolated. These cisterns will collect and store rainwater, allowing families to avoid drinking from contaminated ponds that cause serious illness. With clean water at home, they can protect their health, reduce waterborne diseases, and end the exhausting, daily search for water that puts lives at risk.
Access to clean water means fewer illnesses, stronger children, and fewer preventable deaths. Families will no longer lose loved ones to diarrhea, parasites, or dehydration. Women and girls will spend less time fetching unsafe water and more time in school, at work, or with their families. These cisterns will last for years, improving health, reducing poverty, and giving remote communities a real chance to live with dignity and build a better future, one drop at a time.
