COVID-19 Response Update- Delta

By Shelby Grates | Development and Operations Associate

Thank you for following our efforts to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and how an outbreak in Cambodia is impacting our community and our work.

As with countries and organizations around the world, the impact of the ever-changing situation in our community continues to affect our work and our community.

Most recently, the Delta variant of the virus threatens the health and prosperity of our community.

We have had positive cases across our community members and unfortunately have lost two members of our community members to this devastating virus.  Their families are being supported through this incredibly difficult time by CCF.

Fortunately, Cambodia's vaccine rollout has been fairly efficient. As of August 5, 47.4% of the population has received at least one vaccination.

As of August 1st, Cambodia began vaccinating children aged 12-17 on a voluntary basis, and beginning August 9th, CCF will begin facilitating vaccinations for our students in this age group.

We continue to support our community with additional food packages and financial assistance for those who have lost their income due to the pandemic. We supply our community with hygienic materials to keep them safe and protected and continue to ensure they are up to date with the changing situation and are educated on the best ways to protect themselves and others.

Those who do contract the virus are being treated in a special treatment facility designated by the government for COVID-19 patients, and their families and those exposed are supported while they quarantine.

We continue to provide distance learning to our students via educational packages and lessons via tablets and computers.

We are dedicated to keeping the vulnerable community we serve as safe as possible and appreciate everyone's support in protecting our community.
