The summer camp Colonia was a tremendous success! We met each of our goals!
As we told you in the previous report, we focused on the core of the 4 elements: FIRE, WATER, AIR AND EARTH.
FIRE
We watched videos to know the origin of fire and its use by men. Kids focused their interest in the origin of volcanoes and created an interactive volcano.
In our home-made experiment we recreated the functioning of a volcano with home materials and through chemical reactions, thus having an idea of how it functions by creating a similar physical appearance of a real volcano eruption.
WATER
We enjoyed experiences of changes in the states of water. With the kids we made simple experiments of how water passes from one state the other with just changes in its temperature.
In addition, we worked on the contamination problems and their effects on living beings. We talked about the importance of a sustainable use of water and good habits.
AIR:
We worked on the importance of this recourse to our lives and the awareness of the air management through simple experiments.
EARTH:
We identified the different Earth layers, the importance of each of them, and why it is necessary to protect it. We also detailed what we can do at home in order not to contaminate the planet.
Other activities performed during summer:
At the end of the summer camp, we shared a day with parents. Each group shared their experiences and learnings.
We also gave a trophy to the team with the highest score during all summer.
We are glad and thankful since we all together and with the cooperation of many volunteers and friends of Manos Abiertas could attain our main goal: that kids be able to compete, learn and have fun.
