This summer camp will protect 84 argentinian children who face economic hardship, marginalization and vulnerability. It will give them the opportunity to break away from their difficult life circumstances, even temporarily, and to be able to enjoy their childhood , learning and having fun in a safe and respectful environment.
During school holidays, many of the children and youth living in Villa de Mayo (Buenos Aires, Argentina) are even more exposed to risk situations such as abuse, violence or forced begging. They dont have containment or entertainment, and they may stay at home without responsible adult care or on the streets, permeable to drug or alcohol use.
Through summer camp, we can avoid or mitigate the impact of the above outlined potential hazards by creating a containment, recreational, sharing and participation space for them. This summer camp also provides access to sports and other activities and workshops that will keep these vulnerable children away from the streets, while being able to guarantee children's right to entertainment, education and protection.
Workshops and activities held in summer camp will impact on the development of personal abilities of the 84 children, while strengthening values such as self esteem, solidarity, respect, tolerance and friendship, and also incorporating healthy habits. Since the acquired knowledgeand abilities will be transferred to each home and immediate group, therefore, it will improve the quality of life of their families, impacting positively long term on the community of Villa de Mayo, BsAs, Argentina.
