We are happy to report that our nurses in the country resumed their duties in November after very long striking period. However Kokwa Island community has not been fully relieved as they still don’t have a permanent nurse. The County Government is yet to complete the new dispensary in the Island and employ a permanent nurse to serve the community. At the moment they have not communicated to the dispensary management committee to update them on the way forward and we only hope that they will address the issues early 2018 so as the community to start enjoying the services from the Island as they have been getting most of the services outside the Island which has been very challenging as not all community members have able to meet the costs to travel to the mainland. We are so grateful for the support given in the year 2017 by all our well-wishers who have generously been contributing to this project. With the funds received through global giving community, we have been able to support some of the community members in funding their medication and especially those with serious cases and required further medication from outside the Island. We have been able to support some of them seek medication in Nakuru and Kabarnet which are further from the Island. We remain optimistic that 2018 will be more successful and the community will continue benefiting. We sincerely thank everybody for the success in 2017 and invite all to walk with us the journey in 2018. Thank you very much and we wish you prosperous New Year 2017 full of Blessings.
